NATO Days in Ostrava have grown into one of the biggest security and military shows in Europe. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the event in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
After last year’s very last-minute cancellation due to severe flooding across large parts of Central and Eastern Europe, we were excited to see the event return for a new edition!
Italy was the special partner nation this year and certainly did not disappoint with its impressive lineup of participants. From the former vertical take-off and landing Navy Harrier II to the Eurofighter Typhoon, locally designated F-2000A, and the M-346 Master trainer, Italy brought an impressive variety of aircraft. An incredible cargo aircraft display by the C-27J Spartan was another highlight, making the Italian contribution one of the most impressive parts of the show.
Portugal sent a KC-390 Millennium transport aircraft, a type that is becoming increasingly popular in Europe, with additional orders from Hungary, Austria, the Netherlands, Greece, Sweden and the Czech Republic.
There were also plenty of world-class display teams performing at NATO Days this year. The Red Arrows from the United Kingdom, the Turkish Stars from Türkiye and the Wings of Storm from Croatia delivered spectacular performances throughout the weekend.
Solo displays from a German Eurofighter Typhoon of Tactical Fighter Wing 31 “Boelcke”, the Tiger helicopter, the NH90, the Rafale Solo Display from France, and the relatively new AH-1Z Viper together with the UH-1Y Venom from the Czech Air Force provided a phenomenal flying program.
Also worth mentioning were two of the most spectacular flybys of the weekend: a brand-new F-16C Block 70/72 from the Slovak Air Force and a B-52H Stratofortress from the United States Air Force.
